NEW Provider Payment Options

Select an option that works best for you and your practice

Delta Dental of Colorado is partnering with Optum/ECHO Health to offer providers who are not currently on direct deposit/electronic funds transfer (EFT) additional choices for receiving payment. All providers who are currently receiving paper checks for payment will be moved to a virtual credit card if they do not choose one of the other options, which include:

  • Electronic funds transfer (EFT) payments

  • Medical Payment Exchange (MPX)/electronic check

  • Paper check

EFT Payments

You have three options for signing up for EFT payments outlined below. For Optum/ECHO options: You'll need to provide bank account information, an ECHO Health payment draft number, and payment amount during enrollment. Payments will appear on your bank statement as "HNB – ECHO" from Huntington National Bank.

What you need to do:

For Colorado Providers:

For non-Colorado Providers:

Virtual Credit Card

Virtual credit cards are the payment method that will be received if you're not registered for electronic payments.

What you need to do:

  • No action required unless you'd like to change to another payment option.

  • If you would like to opt out and you've received a virtual credit card payment, you can select a different payment option by visiting https://echovcards.com. You'll need your Tax ID and the ECHO Health draft number from the payment.

Medical Payment Exchange (MPX)/Electronic Check

MPX offers you the opportunity to receive instant delivery electronic checks that you print on a local printer or you can choose to convert payments into either virtual credit card or EFT payments (fees may apply).

What you need to do:

  • If not enrolled in EFT and opted out of virtual credit cards, you may receive enrollment offers via email.

Paper Check

This option is only available by opting out of virtual credit card payments and opting in to receive paper checks.

What you need to do:

  • Please visit https://echovcards.com/letter. You’ll need your Tax ID and the verification access code from the letter you received in the mail. You will also need to opt out of MPX, should you receive an emailed MPX offer.

  • No fees apply.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why is there a new payment system being offered?
A: Delta Dental of Colorado is providing new, more efficient, and faster choices for receiving payment for providers who currently receive paper checks. The new payment system will allow your office the ability to receive a virtual credit card (VCC), electronic funds transfer (EFT), Medical Payment Exchange (MPX)/electronic check, or a check payment.

Q: What if I am an out-of-state provider (not located in Colorado)?
A: If you are an out-of-state provider receiving payment from Delta Dental of Colorado and are not enrolled in national EFT, you will need to select your preferred payment method. Payment options include:

  • Virtual credit card: This option will be defaulted to starting in May 2026 if a provider does not sign up for the national EFT or one of the other payment options provided. If you prefer one of the other payment options, you must opt out of virtual credit card payments. Visit https://echocards.com once you receive your first virtual credit card payment.
  • Medical Payment Exchange (MPX): Providers must opt in to receive MPX. MPS is an electronic payment-delivery method that offers a variety of payment options including the ability to convert provider payments into a check you can print directly to a local printer.
  • Paper check: Providers must opt in to receive paper checks.

Providers should note that the payment options outlined above apply ONLY to Delta Dental of Colorado payments. Payments from their local Delta Dental member company will continue to be issued as usual.

Q: What happens if I don’t choose a payment option?
A: If you don’t choose a payment option from the options provided, you'll automatically receive payments via virtual credit card. This will be the default option moving forward if you are currently receiving paper checks. Normal merchant terminal fees apply to virtual credit card acceptance. You can choose to opt out of receiving virtual credit card payments and select another payment option.

Q: How does a virtual credit card work?
A: A provider will receive fax or mail notifications, each containing a virtual credit card with a number unique to that payment transaction. Also included is an instruction page on how to process the payment. Processing VCC payments is like accepting and entering patient payments via credit card into the payment system.

Q: How do I opt out of receiving payment via virtual credit card?
A: To opt out of the virtual credit card, providers have a few options:

Note: EFT enrollments apply to future payments. If a provider has a VCC in-hand, they will need to process the card, visit echovcards.com, or contact ECHO directly at 1-877-705-4230 to opt for another payment option.

Q: How long does it take to set up electronic funds transfer (EFT) payments?
A: EFT payment setup is generally completed within 10 business days but may take up to 30 days if additional validation requirements are requested. During the transition period, you may continue to receive payments via virtual credit card if that is the method you are using.

Q: What is the difference between the two EFT options provided from Optum?
A: There are two EFT enrollment options that Optum offers, separate from Delta Dental of Colorado:

  1. All Payer EFT

    • One-time enrollment to receive payments from all current and future payers on the ECHO Health platform that include other payers besides Delta Dental (may include fees). Please contact ECHO Health at 1-833-202-5916 for a list of current payers.

  2. Enrollment for Delta Dental of Colorado (DDCO) Only. This option is free.

Q: Can I still sign up for EFT directly through Delta Dental of Colorado?
A: Yes. You can sign up for local DDCO-only EFT or national at no cost. Please contact your provider relations representative or profservices677@ddpco.com.

Q: What information do providers need for EFT enrollment?
A: Providers will need to provide identifying information such as a tax identification number, banking information, and an ECHO draft number and payment amount as part of the enrollment authentication.

Q: How do I access my Explanation of Benefits (EOB) or Explanation of Payment (EOP)?
A: You can access your Explanation of Payment (EOP) through the ECHO Health provider portal. This portal allows you to view detailed payment information for all transactions processed through ECHO Health. They will also be available on the Delta Dental of Colorado secure provider portal as usual.

Q: What should I do if I’m enrolled in EFT with ECHO Health and I have a banking update?
A: For the fastest turnaround, please submit banking updates by logging on to the ECHO Health provider portal. Once logged in, select the Providers Resource tab and find the Online Bank Update form to submit your request. Once submitted, please allow 5-7 business days for processing by ECHO Health. If you have any questions, please call 1-888-834-3511, option 3.

Q: What is MPX - Medical Payment Exchange?
A: This payment option includes three payment modality options including eCheck (available to print on a local printer), virtural credit card, and EFT. Enrolled providers will receive an email notification to indicate a payment is waiting for your actions in the portal.
