Delta Dental in the Community
We’re different than most insurance companies. We're a non-profit. Instead of worrying about our bottom line, we focus on doing good within our community. It’s what sets us apart from other carriers. It’s also one of the keys to our success.
Land of Smiles
Delta Dental of Colorado offers a free, new and exciting live theater program on dental health for kindergarten through third grade students
The program, which will be piloted in Metro Denver in 2014, uses professional actors, a fun set and educational materials for teachers. The play and materials will be offered free as a community service from Delta Dental of Colorado.
Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+)
Delta Dental of Colorado handles the dental benefits of the CHP+ program. The program provides medical and dental coverage to kids whose families cannot afford private insurance. It provides up to $600 of dental benefits per calendar year.
The Kids in Need of Dentistry (KIND) program provided free sealants and screening to children in 446 schools, located in 10 school districts statewide. More than 16,000 children have been screened through the program.
As a result of the program, more than 11,000 children received 35,288 sealants (or chopper toppers). More than half of the kids needed restorative dental work, which they got for free with this program. Over 2,000 children had their first dental visit through the program.
Healthy Smiles for Colorado Kids
Delta Dental of Colorado has created a free kit including an oral health lesson video and lesson plan to help teach kids K-2 the importance of oral health. Over 1,100 kits have been distributed to teachers across the state.
Delta Dental of Colorado Fund
In 2011, the Delta Dental of Colorado Board of Trustees approved formation of the Delta Dental of Colorado Fund to provide two years of free dental insurance to income-qualified individuals across Colorado. One example of how the Fund has helped people in our community is highlighted by Dr. Shawn Maloy’s story.
However, after enrolling more than 6,000 low-income Coloradoans, we have reached capacity and are no longer accepting applications from those without insurance. Learn more about our current programs to help Delta Dental of Colorado members with copay assistance.
