Dental Director
Dr. Max Anderson received his dental degree from the University of Nebraska (1976), his Master of Science in Restorative Dentistry from The University of Michigan (1983) and his Master of Education from George Washington University (1988). He completed a career in the Unites States Navy in 1990 and has served on the faculty of the University of Washington and Indiana University. He served as the Vice President and Dental Director of Washington Dental Service (WDS) a Delta Dental Plan, in Seattle, Washington from 1994 through 2004. His primary research and academic interests are in the management of dental diseases through treating these diseases as bacterial infections and in the analysis of insurance treatment data to identify best practices on risk adjusted populations. He is currently actively consulting regarding risk assessed evidence based dental plan designs, health outcomes.
Dr. Anderson continues his active role in the professional organizations and public service with a primary focus on operative dentistry and cariology. He is actively engaged in research activities at the University of California at Los Angles where he is researching mechanisms to eradicate dental caries through intelligent drug design. He is the representative to the American Dental Association’s Code Revision Committee (CDT-2007 & CDT-2009) for Delta Dental Plans Association and a member of its Dental Policy Committee and Chairs the ADA’s Standards Committee on Dental Informatics Subcommittee on the dental extension of the Continuity of Care Record. He is the President & CEO of C3 Jian, Inc. a California based biotechnology company developing targeted antimicrobial drugs. |
Linda M. Arneson |
Vice President Operations
Linda Arneson is the Vice President of Operations and has worked for Delta Dental of Colorado for 34 years.
She is responsible for the Claims, Customer Relations, and Information Technology departments. In addition,
Ms. Arneson is the liaison for the partnership with Delta Dental Plan of Michigan and manages product partnerships,
such as DDCO's relationship with EyeMed for the vision product. She has a B.A. in Business Administration from Regis
University and completed the Program for Management Development at the Harvard University School for Business
Administration in the Fall of 2004. Ms. Arneson is a member of the Colorado Women's Chamber of Commerce and Colorado
Women's Vision. She also serves as a member of the Board for the Girl Scouts Mile Hi Council.

Jean Lawhead: |
Vice President Sales and Marketing
Jean Lawhead joined Delta Dental of Colorado in June 2005 as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. She oversees the sales, marketing, advertising and product development functions for the Colorado based company. Ms. Lawhead has an exceptional and broad background in sales, account management and marketing. She was most recently in Illinois as Director of National Accounts for Kaiser Permanente, where she significantly grew their national business and was instrumental in securing prestigious accounts, such as WalMart. Prior to this, she worked for many years in health care industry, which included sales leadership roles with CIGNA, Mercer, and The Medstat Group. Ms. Lawhead received her bachelor's and master's degrees from University of Northern Colorado. |

President and Chief Executive Officer
Long-time health care executive and Denver community leader Kathryn Paul was named president of Delta Dental of Colorado on August 1, 2001. Paul retired as president of Kaiser Permanente's western operations in December 1999, following a nearly 30-year career with the nation's largest not-for-profit HMO. In addition to responsibilities for Kaiser's operations in Colorado, Kansas City, Portland and Hawaii, she served as president of Kaiser Group Health, which supported Kaiser's affiliation with Group Health Cooperative of Puget Sound.
Paul began her career with Kaiser Permanente in 1970 and advanced through a series of management positions with the organization in California, Connecticut, Ohio and Colorado. She was named president of the Rocky Mountain division in 1994, with responsibilities for $900 million in revenues and more than 5,000 employees in Colorado and Kansas City. In 1998, Paul assumed responsibility of Kaiser's western operations, with responsibilities for more than $2.5 billion in revenues, 11,000 employees and one million members.
Among her numerous business and civic activities, Paul is past chair and a retired member of the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, Denver Branch; a director of the Colorado Trust; the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce; and Volunteers of America. She also serves as a trustee of the Denver Art Museum. She has served on two publicly traded company Boards and numerous non-profit organizations.
She is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University's Graduate School of Business and holds a master's degree in public health, hospital administration from the University of California, Berkeley, and a BA degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Russell J. Schreier, CPA, MBA: |
Vice President Finance
Russ Schreier is the Vice President of Finance and CFO. Mr. Schreier is responsible for all corporate financial functions, including accounting, underwriting, investment management and financial planning. He is a CPA with an accounting degree from the University of Wisconsin and an MBA from the University of Colorado. Professional associations include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Financial Executives Institute. Mr. Schreier has served on the Boards of the Colorado Foundation of Dentistry for the Handicapped and the Delta Dental Colorado Foundation.

Barbara Springer, J.D.: |
General Counsel and Vice President Administration
Ms. Springer joined Delta Dental of Colorado in May 2002 and assumed responsibility for Human Resources, Compliance and Legal, Public Affairs and the Community Services Programs. Additionally, Ms. Springer is the Executive Director of the Delta Dental Foundation.
Prior to joining Delta Dental, Ms. Springer was an attorney in the health law field for nineteen years. She was an attorney representing the Federal Government in final appeals for the CHAMPUS program for 10 years, and then moved to Kaiser Permanente's Colorado Region where she was the Legal Program Director responsible for risk management, compliance, appeals and the patient safety program.
Ms. Springer received her Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and her Juris Doctorate degree from the John Marshall Law School. Professional associations include the Colorado Bar Association, the American Health Lawyers Association, the Health Care Compliance Association, and the Women's Bar Association. She also serves on the Colorado Symphony Orchestra Board of Trustees.
